1. LightweightDay 2001

Ferrari 360 Modena. We do agree it’s a fast sports car; it’s powerful and very strong? Its high reving 40-valve engine produces 400bhp, but the kerbweight of the car is 1350kg, which makes a power-to-weight at 296bhp per tonne. That is not much in the World of true Colin Chapman philosophy design.
Have a look at today’s Lightweight Day field – if the 360 Modena was coming with a power-to-weight ratio as extremely as the best the output should be 500bhp. Surprising lap times are lurking.
The field to your left: From the red Opel Speedster and clockwise: Opel Speedster, Caterham 7, Lotus Elise 160 MkI, Locost Fireblade, Renault Sport Spider, Lotus 340R
