5. Ford: No, we will not sell Aston Martin

TALKING ABOUT THIS weeks speculation if Ford would sell Aston Martin or not, now Ford exec says the company won’t be shedding Aston Martin, as a British paper had suggested this week. Kathleen Ligocki, in charge of Ford’s global marketing, told Reuters “we’re not going to sell Aston.”

The roumers started, when Britain’s Independent had reported that Ford Chairman William Clay Ford Jr. had suggested a sale might be possible. Ford — the company and chairman — have said that Aston and the rest of PAG will be counted on in the future to produce a large share of Ford’s revenue.

Aston Martins Tim Watson answered to sportscartesting.com, that this is pure speculation. And now even Fords Kathleen Ligocki underlines a sale is not relevant.

BACKGROUND
· William Clay Ford Jr., the automaker's chief executive officer, and Nick Scheele, Ford's chief operating officer, were by Independent asked about PAG, the umbrella organization covering the Swedish Volvo and the three British companies Jaguar, Land Rover and Aston Martin brands. Both said they are expecting PAG be a major profit centre in the years to come – perhaps without Aston, they suggested – dismissed by Aston Martin and latest even officially by Ford.
