SUBARY IS READY to meet Mitsubishi on the strip, the circuit, the Special Stage or the Autobahn. The Subaru European-spec WRX STi is from January 2002 ready for action with 265 HP and 17in wheels.

Until now the turbo Impreza is a 220 HP car – fast, but never fast enough to match the competitor from Mitsubishi, the 280 HP powerful Lancer Evo VII.

Exiting STi-spec is first of all the output. But read on carefully: The Sub in the pipeline comes with a new 6speed gearbox, it stops with large 17in Brembo brakes, the suspension is uprated with inverted struts, front and rear is Suretrac limited–slip differentials, the steering is tuned with a faster rack and the car meets all European noise and emission regulations.

Prices will be announced closer to the January 20002 on-sale-date.
