Friday is the very day, by the end of this week this years IAA Frankfurt Motor Show opens to the public.
For sports cars friends it´s a great show. First of all the trends is very clear - the manufacturers are really competing on design, materials, technique and power. You see it clearly in the field of new sports cars - but you notice the very same trend among normal cars.
New design is represented by the amazing Suzuki Sport with power plant from the Suzuki motorbike called Hayabusa. The car is dramatacilly fast with low weight and high power - this is actually the lightweight/motorcycle idea as represented by quite a few British sports car/kit car manufacturers - this time it is a official car manufacturer doing the trick. Light or not - what we really notice is design flat out.
New materials is first of all represented by BMW with the ligthweight version of the M3, BMW calls the car M3 CSL with regards to the BMW Batmobile - but a better description is M3 Kevlar Edition.
BMW says the car will be as fast as the Porsche GT2 around der Nordschleife, Nürburgring; let´s wait and see.
New technique is represented by Mercedes-Benz if someone: Future brakes-by-wire is surprising - and a tecnical step forward to every kind of car - not only sports cars.
New (and more) power everywhere.
If you in any way are close to Frankfurt - go and see the show.
If not - click to the section Motor Show Special under news and spy and have a look yourself.
