Chris Smith is founder of Westfield Sportscars, normally known for their retro style, Lotus 7 looking sports cars – with engine or motorcycle engine. The word pocket rocket comes to mind. But now Westfield opens a new age with the Westfield XTR2. A fully road legal Le Mans style sports car with power from a 1300 cc Suzuki Hayabusa bike engine.

Complete with optional rear wing, the all-enveloping, aerodynamic bodywork the new car is based on the latest crop of sports caring designs. Westfield are acknowledged chassis experts and the light weight steel space frame chassis with all round adjustable, independent wishbone suspension incorporating all the latest development form their racing division.

Driving through the rear wheels, the mid-engined sports car is working with 6-speed sequential gearbox.

Available either as a fully factory build version the price is £23.750, as a kit the price starts at £12.950.

I don’t think this car will handle just as fine as the Lotus Sport Elise (have a look at Handling Day 2001) at our test tracks, but the lap times must be just as fine – or even better.
