   News: FRIDAY OCTOBER 26. 2001
1. FRIDAY OCTOBER 26. 2001

NISSAN WILL CONTINUE building the GT-R in the 21st Century. These are the first official images of the brutal looking car. And that is all we know until now – well, almost all.

“I'm sure you have many questions regarding the GT-R. Please bear with us for a while until the time is right to share all the details with you” Nissan President Carlos Ghosn explained yesterday at the Tokyo Motorshow. He continued:

“The new GT-R is still under development. Yet I want to assure you that 1.) The GT-R will powerfully live on, 2.) We are looking at markets outside of Japan and 3.) GT-R will remain Nissan's ultimate expression of our driving pleasure promise.”

It’s interesting that Nissan is planning to build left-hand drive versions of the coming Skyline GT-R. That proves the Japanese have great plans with the car. As Ghosn expressed:

“Today, with left-hand drive, the GT-R is prepared to cross national boundaries. It is poised to finally become a legitimate contender in the global arena of "ultimate road vehicles." With this car we are shifting the future and shifting the definition of driving pleasure.”
