GOODWOOD REVIVAL 2008 - ONLY 9 DAYS TO GO!
// The world’s most popular historic race meeting
// The only of event of its kind to be staged in the romantic time capsule of the Fifties and Sixties
// “Romantic” – yes, but don’t misunderstand – the Revival is true racing as well
// We are taking a spin of two of the most famous Jaguars
THE GOODWOOD REVIVAL relives the glory days of Goodwood Motor Circuit, which ranked alongside Silverstone as Britain’s leading racing venue throughout its active years between 1948 and 1966. During this time, Goodwood hosted contemporary racing of all kinds, including Formula One, the famous Goodwood Nine Hours race and the celebrated Tourist Trophy sports car race.
Today you can relive all this again. In only 10 days it’s time for this year’s Goodwood Revival. Tributes will form an important part of this year’s Goodwood Revival – which takes place from 19-21 September – as the 60th anniversary of motor racing at Goodwood and the 10th anniversary of the Revival meeting, are celebrated in unison.
Goodwood will celebrate some important landmarks in the circuit’s 60 year history. It will be an action-packed weekend of historic motor racing and period theatre for all the family, with many drivers and riders, past and present, reunited with old friends and team mates.
To help celebrate 60 years of motor racing at Goodwood, the Revival will feature a spectacular parade of those men and machines intrinsically linked with the circuit’s history. Goodwood is bringing together a wide variety of significant cars, whether it’s Reg Parnell’s Maserati 4CLT that dominated the first few meetings; or victorious cars from the most famous races such as the Nine Hours, TT and Easter Monday F1 race; or cars that set important milestones. Taking part alongside the cars will be many great international racing stars from the Goodwood history books. Drivers confirmed to be attending include
• Sir Stirling Moss
• Sir Jack Brabham
• Sir Jackie Stewart
• Sir John Whitmore
• Tony Brooks
• Jackie Oliver
• Richard Attwood
• Derek Bell
• Jacky Ickx
• John Fitzpatrick
