THE NEW MUSTANG Bullitt GT is a throwback to the 1968 Mustang GT 390 that co-starred with Steve McQueen in the movie Bullitt. The new Mustang's increased performance, front grille and deeper exhaust note harkens back to '60's Mustangs.
Ford honored the late actor Steve McQueen by launching the high-performance, limited edition 2001 Mustang Bullitt GT. The car was designed to pay tribute to the chase scene in the 1968 action film, Bullitt.
The heart of the Mustang Bullitt GT is a 4.6-liter SOHC V-8 engine modified to improve airflow. It produces 265 horsepower and a broader torque curve compared with the Mustang GT engine. Modifications include:
· Twin 57 mm bore throttle body
· Cast aluminium intake manifold
· High-flow mufflers for increased power and aggressive performance sound
· Optimised alternator and pump pulley ratios
FACTS
· Ford Mustang Special Edition
· 6500 will be built
· V8
· 265bhp
· Special colour
· Special wheels
· $26,830
