A NEW, NO not 550 but 575 Maranello has just been revealed in the Ferrari City. While the Italians launched their new Ferrari Formula One 2002 challenger in the new road car engine factory at Maranello, the 575 was revealed by Michael Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello in front of a 600 strong crowd of media, sponsors, partners etc.

This was the official Ferrari Formula One 2002 launch. But there was also a strong link with the road cars, as Schumacher and Barrichello joined their formula car on the stage driving a Ferrari 575M Maranello road car, while a video was shown of the new car.

“A new beautiful car” Jean Todt explained, but it is not difficult to recognize the 550 Maranello. But the engine is stronger, the performance is better, the wheels are bigger and the gearbox – just listen:

The 575M comes with a 6-speed sequential gearbox, this is pure Formula One Technique directly from the Ferrari test track Fiorano to the back roads around the factory – and every other public roads around the World.
