CLAUS WORUP CLAIMS the MGB is the best sports car ever. I don’t Agree. First I must tell, I am a great admirer of Mr. Worup's journalism, and I certainly find it unfair to compare a Lancia Stratos with an MGB, but in the end - I could never vote the MG "Best sport scar ever".
It is difficult to benchmark sporty cars from different periods, but - in my world - a true classic, cheap, trustworthy sport scar is called: "Alfa Romeo Giulia GT".
This car has the character of a thoroughbred; the cool looks of Italian 60's style and lots of hi-tech details. Consider 90bhp from 1300cc, 130bhp from 2000cc, five speed alloy-housing box, limited slip dif, twin cam engine with lithium-cooled exhaust valves and well-balanced suspension. And all at a reasonable price.
Two hundred thousand Bertone Coupés left the assembly lines in Arese between 1963 and 1975, the aluminium-bodied GTAs won a lot of period races and still take a lot of wins in classic racing and rallying.
Coure Sportivo - how can anybody be in doubt!

PS: We showed this „I don’t Agree!” to a true MGB driver. He just said: “This chap has obviously never owned an MGB or had to restore the bodywork on his Alfa!”
