First drive: Cornering at 160 km/h
7. Cornering at 160 km/h

GRIP IS MARVELOUS, but there is no traction control, other than that exercised through your right foot. Even with those big fat rear tyres (335 – 650 ZR 480), 700+ horsepower going through them as you accelerate through the apex of a rather fast corner, forces adhesion to slowly dissolve. Cornering at around 160 km/h, you find yourself feeding in a couple of quick dabs of opposite lock. No trouble, the Edonis feels perfect. No, not perfect, utterly supreme, and magnificently poised. It provides the epitome of enjoyment, for the experienced driver, in balancing this very fine machine on the throttle through curves, as well as experience the high-speed straight-line performance available.

Big Edonis brakes really haul the car down well, and very soon, as you quickly get the feel of the car, you find yourself braking for corners later and later. The ball of your right foot well in command, whilst the side of your heel dabs the throttle as the gear lever is passing through neutral and - oh so smoothly – ”snicks” into one gear down. You might imagine that this car could be a real animal to drive. That would be quite wrong. It is a delight to handle and a marvellous machine to control. Temperatures remain stable; its V12 engine with 5 valves per cylinder is not prone to misfires at low speeds. After standing in traffic, the plugs are not fouled and the car pulls away cleanly and smoothly, and totally unfussed. For 750,000 Dollars you would hope so, but it is not always the case with expensive and highly-strung very powerful supercars.

Cruising all day at speeds of 250 km/t and upwards, is easy. For ”practicle reasons” though in most of Europe, you have to simply satisfy yourself with immense bursts of acceleration, which will blast you past any, and every, form of traffic you are likely to come across. The Edonis IS a safe car. It helps you become a patient driver. Because it never matters how long the queue is in front of you.

You just wait for the right opportunity and overtake the whole lot in one fell swoop! No need for panic, you are back on your side of the road quickly, cleanly and while the approaching traffic is still at a safe distance.
