WE PARK WHERE we are directed at the assembly point at the top. All the other participants eventually arrive. And the memories come flooding back of too many years ago, of driving on Goodwood, another lifetime ago. But Oh! That great feeling, that special something about being in competition. Even if this time it was as a passenger!
On the way down the hill, even the Marshals were waving to us, clearly impressed with the Adonis’s performance up the Hill. When we got back down along the flat section just after the Bridge and along the Park Straight, Phil kept stopping and really lighting up the tyres for the crowd, who, by the way they were cheering like crazy, clearly loved the show the Edonis was putting on for them. Finally, the Marshals guided us off the track and back towards our paddock area. We step out of the car and have a post mortem.
”Did you realise I was too fast for the gearbox on that change?” asks Jean-Phillipe. ”Yea” I said,” I know, but what the hell.” ”Yea, can’t be helped he said, that’s the way it goes sometimes.” He was right, it happens. Memories again.
