V6, 24 VALVES, two overhead camshafts on each cylinder-line and injection are the specs to remember. Advanced stuff and pure racing not many years ago. In the middle of the 70΄es we almost fainted by looking under the bonnet of a Ford Capri BDA Group 5 saloon car racer. Would anyone believe pure Formula One design with... V6, 24 valves, two overhead camshafts on each cylinder-line and injection.
Today this is normal technique in a car like our black MG. Just as you will find it in the Ford Mondeo ST220 and the Opel / Vauxhall Vectra GTS to mention two of the fastest competitors.
A 2.5-litre V6 power unit to the kerb weight of 1450 kg. It sounds like an engine that needs a lot of revs. And the MG unit do need revs to get the car moving fast max torque comes at 4000 rpm. To normal driving you just place the red needle wherever you want. But if you are in the right driving mode you have to take it to 4000 rpm before shifting. And if you really are out to use the car just for pleasure, then there is one way to treat the creature: Redline it in the lower speeds.
Other specs: 2497 cc, 80 x 82.8 mm, 10.5:1, 190 hp, 245 Nm.
