THE FORD THUNDERBIRD is an all-traditional sports car – front-engine, rear-wheel drive, unitized steel frame.

To keep weight low and give a perfect 50/50% weight distribution, more plastic compounds was used in the body panels. The hood, front fenders, rear fenders and trunk lid are made of high-tech, composite plastic while the 2-doors remain steel.

The unitized steel frame is very stiff, rigid and torsional and is taken from the award-winning Lincoln LS and shortened by 7in
