COMPARED TO THE normal Mini and Cooper there aren’t so many new features in the cabin. But why should there? It looks marvelous and reminds in many ways of the classic Mini. However – what you might think what looks like aluminum is nothing more that cheap and thin plastic. In a way it is the same mistake Chrysler did with the PT Cruiser cabin quality. Too much plastic or should I say bad quality plastic and that just doesn’t ad up to the rest of the car.
But you will soon forget that, when sitting behind the leather steering wheel and the small rev counter smiles right at your face. Surprisingly I do sit very well in the standard sport seats with my height of 184 cm and there is as much headroom space as for instance in an Alfa Romeo 156. You actually feel sitting well protected due to the high waistline of the car and in a way it is the same feeling I get when sitting in an Audi TT.
Speaking of protection the Cooper S comes with 6 airbags.
It is possible for 2 adults to use the rear seats on short trips – and lets repeat that – short trips. But the space is more designed for 2 kids. The boot of the car is not surprisingly small, but now a days the Mini comes with rear seat split 50:50, which gives the car a more practical touch.
